San Diego Marathon

So less than a month after my disney marathon, I have decided to do another marathon. The decesion was really easy since this race entry was given to me for free. I have never gotten a race entry for free so that is really cool. Another cool aspect is that this is San Diego the last time I was here was in 2002, for National Lifeguard Competition. The city is amazing with a lot to do and lots of great food, the scene is really nice as well. I will do some surfing. This race will be special as well, they are holding a race as Elvis world record attempt. I have decided to race as Elvis in memory of my grandfather who passed away late last year. He was a huge Elvis fan so this will be a great tribute to him. So I will be doing lots of training for this. So wish me luck good racing to everybody

Disney Marathon

So Sunday was my second marathon. The second marathon is an interesting marathon because you know how far it is and how stupid it is to run that far, but yet lack many of the skills that make veteran's run so much easier. So I went to Florida on Wen after for four days proceded to walk Disney World numerous times, putting in many miles on my feet. This I knew was not a good idea but I didn't have a choice to get to see the park and run the race any other way since school started. So I didn't and would see what the consequences would be. So Saturday I got to bed about 10-11 o'clock and 3am came really early, but I got out of bed with out to much of a struggle and made my way to the start. It was dark and a little warm and humid that morning, a lot of people were complaining about it, since they were from up north, but being from texas it wasn't all that bad. However, it was not ideal running weather. So the gun went off with its normal excitement. The road was packed and was hard to get into a good pace, but by 2.5 I had settled into a pace, found a person who was going to run about the speed as me so we talked and ran. I was holding my 4 hour pace all the way till mile 15 where the previous days walking finally caught up and I could run no more. So for the next 11 miles I walked and ran. I had two GI problems that I had to take care of. However my nutrition was fine, I had no cramps and felt good other than my feet the whole time. My legs started to get a little tired towards the end but not bad, BioFreeze is wonderful at helping tired legs, it is a gel that you rub on and it is like BenGay on steriods. So I finished the race in 4:45 a little slower than last years but not bad, since this is a slow race anyways. Through out the course there was many spectators and Disney characters. It is nice to be running and say hey there is Belle oh and Jasmine, Look there goes Mickey. That really took away the monotony. So two days after I feel fine I am a little tired and sore but not bad I can walk up and down stairs and even do a lite jog with out to many issues. It was a lot of fun and a highly recommened running in the most magical place on earth.

Disney

So today I loaded up on a plane with my mother and headed for Disneyworld. I am spending 6 days and 5 nights and during that time I will be running the Disney Marathon. Many people might ask how you might run this marathon since you are so out of shape. Well to be perfectly honest I am not sure, I did Houston last on just a little more training but I didn't have the triathlon season before. So I think that I will be okay, it will definitely be a mental game; which I enjoy because I am good at those when it comes to a choice to quit or not because I don't know how to quit. So back to the story I spent the whole day walking around Disney, I went to the magical kingdom and rode Space Mountain, then I went to Animal Kingdom and rode some cool rides. So that is enough for this morning. Stay tuned more to come.
