Tour de lousiana

Last weekend was my first road race outside of Collegiate Racing. It was very fast!! I rode up with Trey and his family. It was a five and half hour drive to Covington,LA. It was long but I managed to get some sleep. When we got to the hotel I had some serious work to do on my bike. Since I am poor and can't afford race wheels, I have race tires. So I changed those. I went to sleep as early as i could.

Stage 1: A 3 mile TT- 7:53 It was flat and fast. I averaged 25 the first mile, 23 the second and 22.5 the third. My legs hurt.
Stage 2: Was Saturday afternoon. It was a 32.2 mile road course consisting of two loops. It started off well, it was cloudy and not to hot. After mile one it was now raining, alot. So the rest of the course was done in the rain. No fun. There were several accidents. One took up the whole rode like two deep. The only way I made it through was to squeeze by and pray that nobody moved. Luckily I made it through unharmed. However I lost the front pack and it took more than I had to catch up to them. So I settled in with another group and we tried to work together to finish the race. Luckily the pack worked well together and we did a good pace.

Stage 3: 35 min Crit: It was a .6mile classic 4 turn crit. The one snafu was that half of the course was on uneven pavement with loose gravel and whatnot. Needless to say it wasn't much fun. I hung on to the pack for about 10 min which made me happy.

Over all the race was a lot of fun. I look forward to more racing outside of collegiate.

Summer Camp

This week and next week, I am a senior Counselor for the Exxon Mobil Bernard Harris Summer Camp. It is okay, the kids get to do a bunch of cool little projects and I get to go to some cool places. Best of all I get to do it for free and get paid to do all of the stuff. Most of the campers are pretty good, a couple of them are getting attitude.

So my life up to this point. I have done a couple of races.

San Diego Marathon. Horrible time dressed as Elvis it was fun, but worst time ever. Not the best course in the world. It was however put together really well.

Tejas Tri-I got 2nd in my age group. I hadn't been in the water since last october did pretty well in the swim, the bike was a little slower than I would of liked but oh well. The run felt really bad, I ran the marathon the sunday before so I didn't have the extra gear. I got passed by the winner of my age group at mile one on the run. So I was leading the whole time pretty much. It was fun I always enjoy that race.

That is good enough for now, Chau I promise that I will try and keep it updated some more.
